Off-road
vehicles

Thinking of getting an off-road vehicle? Before you hit the trails, you should know that by law you must have at least $500,000 in liability insurance from an automobile insurer for damage that could be caused to a third party by the vehicle.

Remember also that young people under the age of 16 aren't allowed to drive off-road vehicles.

Driver
distraction

It's always important keep your eyes on the road and your hands on the wheel to reduce the risk of having an accident. Looking at a map, text messaging, scanning radio stations, adjusting your seat, eating or drinking, even talking on the phone or with a passenger, can all be sources of distraction.

And don't drive if you're tired!

Inventory of your possessions

We recommend you take an inventory of your personal property to make sure you're adequately insured if ever there's a fire or theft in your home. This way you'll know how much your possessions are worth and you can insure them accordingly. An inventory is also very useful should you make a claim. This way you can quickly send your insurer the list of the possessions stolen or damaged by fire.

You might be surprised just how much you do own.
